Here we go!

Time to start studying for my Family and Parenthood Psychology test on Monday! It's a good thing this is just a recap section for me- I already am a social psychologist after all, so this introduction section should be a piece of cake. But yes, I should probably get on top of this. Lecture for the MA course this afternoon, so coffee, coffee, coffee is my mantra today ;)

Classes start Monday and I will officially be on my last year of school. For this time at least. Some days I dream of a phd but for now a Master's degree will do!

Another day in paradise.

Kyle is napping after finishing all his exams. We now have 2 weeks together, that we can spend doing whatever we want - no school, no work that needs our attention. I'm thinking a trip to the Ben & Jerry's factory, a vineyard, maybe hiking Camels Hump? Or just simply spend time together. I really hope he can come visit me this summer! Too bad the tickets are so freakin' expensive! Last night I did the first Insanity workout. It was a plyo sequence and it was... awful. I mean, in a good way, kind of. I will not be doing it everyday, it is too much jumping and high impact movements, my body can't handle it. My back i so sore today! But I did get my Chinese food. 11pm, Beef and broccoli with brown rice -MMM! I wish there was anywhere I could get takeout delivered at 11pm in Sweden too! :)

Sweatpants!

Edit: I am now wearing the sweatpants after Insanity's Plyometric Cardio workout. Double workout today, so I can't wait until the boo comes home- we're ordering Chinese! :)

Insane Insanity Fit Test

So.. this morning I attempted to do the Fit Test for Insanity (check it out here: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/insanity.do). I didn't anticipate all the jumping, and my "roommates" were still asleep. So I half assed it, didn't really get any reliable numbers - but I did work up a real sweat. All the jumping scares me a little, I don't think my body will appreciate it (and I'm not talking about normal soreness or Charley horse here, I'm talking about breaking something or pulling something and ending up paralyzing myself) But - I'm gonna do all the five or six workouts that is part of the first months routine, because I want to try it. And if it's too much - I'll bring it down a notch. Or two. We'll see :)

Insanity

Yeah, about that workout.. Probably not going to happen today. I got some work done and I'm overall content with my day. And tomorrow I'm going to do the fitness test for the Insanity workout, so I need some extra rest ;-) Netflix and a fruit platter it is!

Being productive..

.. Or not? Kyle is asleep after yet another all nighter in the computer lab. Thank goodness finals are over soon! I'm watching CNN downstairs so I won't disturb him, but I should really get to work soon. But I'm not gonna lie, Sex and the city and Netflix has been getting a lot more of my attention lately.. ;)

Workout for today? Haven't made up my mind yet.. But something short and sweet. And inside, half a storm going on outside today. You gotta love New England!

My food weekend

Friday I ordered Chinese food- sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice. Sooo greasy but so good. I enjoyed it while watching Sex and the city.

Today started off with a egg and bacon sandwich which gave me a lot of energy for my cardio workout. Now I'm enjoying oatmeal with cottage cheese, bananas, strawberries, cinnamon and raisins. Perfect "in- between meal meal" :-)

Today's workout is inspired by p90x plyometrics, but I shortened it in half which is more than enough :-)

10 min warm up; running in place, squats, jump rope. Stretch legs!

Overwhelmed

This is how I best do my work when I'm overwhelmed after a meeting and tired after a night of no sleep. Paper and pen for wherever I need to write something down after I let my brain aimlessly process it. I just write down what ever comes up, and amazingly enough most of it is already processed without me having to do anything but enjoy my coffee.

Best view.

There are a lot of nice views in Burlington, due to how the city is located down towards Lake Champlain. Of course the view is better with changing Fall leaves on the trees or when Spring has really sprung. But still, walking down Ledge Rd. is still one of my favorites. Even when Kyle is not part of the view ;-)

I am (still) here.

I have arrived in the land where everything is possible. Where you can make all your dreams come true. Where take- out and dining out is cheap, there's is an awesome clothing outlet in every corner, and where the history of bacon has it's own show on History Channel. And where you can be detained for hours by the border patrol if you come here too often. Sweet.

It is now Tuesday and I've successfully slept for 7+ hours and managed to eat some breakfast (toast and coffee). I also managed to drop one of my slices of toast, buttered and all on the hallway carpet. Yes, this is also the country that loves broadloom carpets. And ours now smell like butter. But hey, the fridge smells like fish too, and most of the time the entire apartment smells like eggs. Did I mention I live with three guys? Yep. The shower smells like oranges though. I happen to have a very awesome boyfriend who scrubbed every inch of that shower yesterday. So this country does have it's positive aspects. Orange smelling cleanser just so happens to be one of them.

Princess.

Yesterday Sweden got a new little princess. Today she is just a baby, a little over 24h old, but one day she will be our Queen. I am a true royalist and I was so happy when they announced her name today; Estelle Silvia Ewa Mary. I doubt that anyone bet any money on the name Estelle, and a lot of the experts seem to dislike it, but I LOVE it! It has a soft yet charismatic ring to it, everything a future Queen need :)

Breaking.

I took an unplanned blog-break last week. I all honestly I forgot the blog existed while I was busy finishing most of my assignments so I can have next week off. Most of my family have Spring break next week and I want to be able to spend as much time with them as I want to before I *drum roll* leave for Boston next Sunday!

I still have a few assignments to do this week, and I'll get them done. After I take a long nap ;-)

Perfect! Today's yoga sequence was exactly what I needed! :)

Back on track.

I'm back on track after a little stomach bug.

I got a lot of work done yesterday, had a time scheduled quiz at 9am and after that I just kept going. Very productive! So I'm giving myself a little breather today, having my first cup of coffee in over four days and just doing some reading. Going to try to take a slow, short walk later on, just to get some fresh air!

I need to put together a short but effective neck/upper back/shoulder program, something I can do while I take a break form my work. Lately I've been having a lot of problems wit my neck, which makes sense since I'm in front of the computer most of the day, but it really bothers me and sometimes gives me headaches. So I should really do some exercises that both stretches and strengthen that area. I should provably Google it, there's most likely a program just like that out there on the world wide web. Yes. Most likely.

It's Friday, Friday...

... gotta get down on Friday! I'm thinking "get down" as in downward dog, but maybe that's just me! :) Today is my fourth day of my twenty one day challenge, and I haven't done my sequence yet. I'm getting some work done and babysitting, and focusing on exercise later on today. But I'm really liking my power-walk/yoga focus right now :)It's refreshing for the body and the soul!

Runkeeper!

I tried the app RunKeeper today for my afternoon walk. I like that there's a lady telling you how far/fast you've walked every five minutes :) and especially nice to finally know for sure that the distance I use for my intervals is exactly 4km :)

The naked truth.

Today, after a power-walk and 15 minutes of yoga, I took a long hot shower and realized my legs felt kind of stiff, so I started stretching. This is something I sometimes do in the shower since it feels good to stretch under the hot water. But today I realized something. Holy shit, I look amazing naked! There are no six pack, no perfect muscle definition, but I'm relatively fit, I have enough definition and I'm soft where I'm supposed to be. I look like a healthy woman, ready to work out, dance, be loved, carry children, lift weights, relax on the couch.. I've found a balance of healthy life choices, exercise and I know how to re-charge my batteries. And to be at this point after being sick for almost a month, without any high pulse exercise in weeks - it feels amazing!

Great walk! Cold but refreshing. And then 15min yoga. It's a good day :)

Rediscover

I just rediscovered a bunch of things in my closet- my leather boots that I bought years ago and never wore since they gave me a blister- now they fit and feel perfectly fine! And my comfy, fluffy and beautiful knitted sweater :) sometimes it pays off to have a closer look in your own closet!
